Huge Excel file

Hi

I've got a huge Excel file (35 MB) that doesn't have much in it. I looked at a number of posts in this discussion area, and also looked at

If I hit Ctrl-end I wind up at cell IM60591. The actual data ends at I54. If I try to delete all columns to the right of I it doesn't help. Similarly with rows. I searched for all types of special objects -- nothing except that when I searched for blanks it highlighted the areas that shouldn't exist. I tried deleting (not clearing) blocks of rows and columns

Eventually the last cell moved to IE 60591 -- don't know what I did to accomplish that

Oh, there's no macros, names, data validations, conditional formats

Any suggestions

You can ignore my previous message -- I did manage to shrink the file. It appears deleting a block of rows and columns seemed to do the trick, although I still would like to figure out what was there and why just deleting all of the columns didn't appear to work

If you read through my previous post, thanks -- I appreciate it, and I'm still open to any suggestions about what's going on.

Oh.. even though I did reduce the file size, the sheet still seems to think there's something all the way out to cell IM60591.

Be sure to save the file after deleting the rows and
columns. Then re-open to checkit.

Art,

The best way to get a smaller file with only the
information you want is to copy and paste only the data
you want into a new Excel file. For example, if you want
cells A1 through I54, just copy and paste those cells into
a new file. When you save this new file it should be much
smaller.

After Deleting the columns to the right of your last data column and Delete the
rows below -- Save you file, close and reopen
