HUGE project file (1.2 GBytes)

Hi all,

I just started managing projects for a company. I've taken over an in
flight project, that was managed with an MSProject 2000 plan. The .mpp
file is HUGE (1.2 GBytes) and takes forever to manipulate. I have
never seen such a huge MSProject file, and have been trying to figure
out why it is. The file has 150 tasks, 40 resources and 260
assignments: this should be a small file.

This looks like a runaway cause. Can you help me identifying why it
has gotten so big, and most importantly, how I can easily shrink it?

Thanks

Pierre

Thanks Mike. Option 2 worked for me (saving to .mpd and then to .mpp)

I bookmarked this FAQ and won't bother the group anymore before havin'
checked the FAQ.

I ended up with a 1 Mb file (from 1.2 Gb). Talk about waste!

Now, if you could only point me to a tutorial on how to avoid the
glut...

Thanks again.

Wow! That's some reduction!

Keep using Method 1.
