Hy does PowerPoint not update with Excel spreadsheet/

M

Martin Rep

In my PowerPoint Presentation (12.1.2), I want the results displayed of a
tournament I am organizing.
So I copy a row with data from my Excel spreadsheet, and with Paste SpecialŠ
and Paste Link I have the results displayed in my presentation. So far so
good.
However, when the results of a player during the tournament changes (this is
what happens in tournaments), the presentation does not change to show the
new value.
What am I doing wrong?

Well, first of all you'll have to explain where you're finding a Paste Link
command in PPt 2008 - the program doesn't support Object Linking for
anything other than pictures. There's nothing in the Paste Special dialog
that provides a Link option.

You are right about that, cannot find it. I hoped I was looking in the wrong
pace, since the Windows version of PowerPoint does support thisŠ

If there isn't an ability to link excel data in the Powerpoint 2008 version, is there an equivalent?
I often need to link a data table from excel into my powerpoint presentations. As you mentioned, I cannot find a way to link them as I have always done in previous versions of the software. Why would this capability be removed? Has it been replaced with something we can use instead?
