Can excel hyperlink to a folder? Not a specific file type (i.e.- word, pdf, etc.)
I would like to be able to link to a folder that has many files in it, but not a specific document.

AFAIK Excel won't let you *directly" hyperlink to a folder - folders are not
actually anything other than a part of a path to where an actual item [file,
web page] is stored... IOW, a "pointer". However, you should be able to fool
the program a little.

Use the standard Hyperlink dialog to create the link to a file in that
folder but before you say OK delete the name of the filename from the end of
the path in the Link To: field. When you use the link it will bring up a
Finder window pointed to that folder.

I'm not sure why you want to do so, but depending on your intent there may
be a more appropriate way to get it done.

Thanks CyberTaz. That worked. FYI - I work for an architectural firm. We have all of our file categorized on an excel spreadsheet. I want the hyperlink so that I could quickly navigate to a specific folder, that folder contains multiple file types (i.e - word, excel, dwg, etc). Maybe I am going about this all wrong but...?

Well, I'm certainly not implying that you're "wrong" in doing it that way,
but especially since there are a variety of file types I'd be tempted to use
the features of the OS for file management rather than hassling with
hyperlinks in Excel... After all, that's what Finder, Spotlight, Aliases,
etc. are all about :) Using Excel you still wind up in a Finder window.

There are also file management programs such as Expression Media that are
designed for the purpose & provide a far more robust file organization &
management environment with less effort:

Thanks CyberTaz. I will definitely look at this software. I have been trying to spotlight/finder to be able to search through our files easier, but I am having a really hard time with it finding files using spotlight comments on our shared network. Again, I am still new to all this, but trying to learn.
Thanks again:)
