hypercard conversion

Peggy

I have a client who has finally come into the 21st century and needs to
convert her old Hypercard address books to something that runs natively
in OSX. I've been looking for a nice applescript to convert the
Hypercard stacks to Excel spreadsheets but am having no luck.

Somebody must have done this already..... If someone could point me in
the right direction I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,
Peggy

Since nobody else responded, I'll take a stab at it. I never used
Hypercard, but your client certainly isn't alone - my physician used the
Hypercard-based system that he developed for all of his office records
right up until HIPPA made it too much of a liability.

I would guess that the easiest way to get the data into XL would be to
export the information into a comma or tab-delimited text file. She
could then use the Data/Get External Data/Import Text file... dialog to
ensure that the import worked appropriately (e.g., import zip codes as
Text so that any leading 0's aren't dropped).
