When i create a hyperlink in email text it accepts only 256 characters.
Please advice since my Sharepoint Survey link which we want to send to all
the people in our international organization is more than 256 characters.

Hi Vikas,

Is the limitation in the link name or the href? If you're sending in
HTML, try using a short link name with the full href:

<a
href="http://www.sharepoint.com/allthiste...mayexceed256characters/alotmorecharacters.htm">Sharepoint
Survey</a>

is the base link that long or does it include the source & root in the link?

This is a limitation of the text box. You can send long URLs by pasting into
the message body. If you want to use a link name, create the URL in an HTML
editor, select the rendered url and paste into the message body.

You can also copy the link from the sharepoint menus and paste in outlook,
although it will include formatting - choose use destination formatting from
the paste tag.

How about this shorter URL?
http://www.microsoft.com/office/com...83e725-e0d2-43d2-85d2-a88510a949ba&sloc=en-us

You don't need the location tag (&sloc=en-us), so it can be even shorter.

using your exact example:

<a
href="http://www.microsoft.com/office/com...eral&mid=87946cf7-3154-4c85-a4aa-0026b12c5955">May
8th All Employee Meeting Advance Question Submission via abcNet</a>

My experience with sharepoint is that urls are padded with linkbacks - you
can delete the extra junk in the url and it will work. Now its possible
that your sharepoint url is really too long - and not padded - if the path
is
http://www.ourcompanysharepointsite...yonetocompletebymay8/areweat256charactersyet/

you can't do much to make it shorter but many times the url is padded like
this - chop it at the &source to make it smaller:
