"hyperlink" appearing in documents

Hi Bob,

You're seeing the underlyling hyperlink field code. Use Alt+F9
to toggle back to the results and check your settings in
Tools=>Options=>View to turn off 'field codes'.

=========Using Word 2002 with SP2 installed.

Used to be when I entered something like http://somewhereorother.com, Word
would render it in a blue font and underline it. Now all of a sudden Word
has taken to showing links as { hyperlink "http://somewhereorother.com" }
instead. How do I put it back the way it was?

Thanks. I must have accidentally hit alt+f9 again without noticing it. For
some reason I can never remember that combination.

I wish there were a way to disable it.

Hi Bob,

You can if you really want to disable the shortcut. However I suspect
the more you learn about Word the more you will utilize the shortcut.
;-)

But either of these methods will do the trick:

Quick Steps:
- Press Ctrl Alt +
Plus on 10-key pad. This will enable the Customize Keyboard
command. Your mouse pointer will look like a clover
- Press Alt + F9
You should see the Customize Keyboard dialog box display for the
"ViewFieldCodes" command. Select the current keyboard shortcut and
click Remove

Detailed Steps:
- Go to Tools/Customize
- Click the Keyboard command
- In the Categories on the left select "All Commands"
- In the Commands section on the right select "ViewFieldCodes"
- Select the current keyboard shortcut and click Remove

Thanks Beth for the way to customize the keyboard. I thought about what you
said and changed the ViewFieldCodes shortcut to ctrl+alt+shift+f9. I'm not
likely to hit that combination accidentally too often without noticing it!

Hi Bob,

Glad it worked for you. :) Now it's just a matter of remembering the
shortcut you assigned. <grin>
