I have a workbook with many columns. One is email column with hyperlinks. That's fine.
The problem is if I insert new columnss to the right of this all next time has blue underline. All new text in all new columns I create to the right of the email column is "hyperlinked"
What can I do? thanks.

One way:

When you insert your column, a smart button appears just under the
column header. Choose "Clear Formatting" instead of "Format same as
left".

When you insert a column Excel essentially creates another which is
structurally the same as the one to the left of where you're inserting the
new one & pushes everything further right to make room for it. The
formatting, borders, shading, column width, etc. are included.

And before you ask :) No, I don't know of any way to alter the default
behavior short of a home grow "insert column" macro that includes the
additional step of clearing the formatting.

Thanks Bob, fasninating.
The quicks of Excel!

PS, I"ve been asking for years, but never got a solution: How does one get rid of all hyperlinks in one fell spoop in a column. I know how to get rid of some of them piecemeal but not all at once.

I'm not contradicting you, but it just seems to me that this question has
been answered -- and on more than one occasion :) Anyway...

One option:

Type the digit 1 into a cell, then select the cell & copy.

Next, select the cells containing the hyperlinks,
Go to Edit> Paste Special,
In the Operations group click either the Multiply or the Divide option,
Click the OK button.
