hyperlink box colours

In order to not have the dreaded underlined text in a hyperlink, I am placing
a transparent rectangle on top of the text which is the hyperlink object.
However, I want this transparent rectangle to be solid when returning to the
master slide so as to eliminate the text underneath it, but have not been
able to do this with the change colour palete.

Has anyone any solutions to this?

If this is not possible, can I at least have the text disappear when
returning back to the master slide instead of it simply changing colour?

The way to do this is via a triggered animation, assuming you are using
PPT 2002 or above. You will set an emphasis animation for the
transparent box to change color (or an exit animation for the text box).
Set the timing of the animation to be triggered by the click of the
transparent box. You can find tutorials about animation triggers here:

http://pptheaven.mvps.org/tutorials/trigger.html

or here:

or many other places.

Oops. Sorry. I forgot I was in the Mac group. My new MacIntel is so
confusing. I'm reading the Mac newsgroup in a Windows program on my Mac.
I can't remember whether to press control-V or command-V to paste, and I
can't keep track of which version of PowerPoint I'm talking about.
Ignore my last post (unless you, too, are confused and are talking about
Windows).

The color scheme devotes two slots to link colors: one for links and another for
followed links. You could set the followed link color to match the color of
whatever's beneath the text. Blue text, blue background --> Invisible.

thanks Steve...

I am running PP 2003 and using any of the edit color scheme options don't
work with the box. It does work with text however. Am I in the wrong area?

In that case you're in a Windows version of PowerPoint - see the previous
reply from David M.

Just so I know, how can I tell which forum I'm in ( Mac or windows ). I
can't find a reference on the page at all.

Yep, sorry I didn't make that clearer. You can have underlined text that "goes away"
after the link's been followed, though.

And I think there are some answers in the Windows side of this group that explain
other options for dealing with the box (triggers and such)
Am I in the wrong area?

Yep, but I see Bob's handled that for you
