HYPERLINK FETCHES WRONG FILE--SOMETIMES

T

Terry

OS is XP Pro, Excel is 2003 1156.12.5606

I have a single sheet called "Subscriptions" for keeping track of
magazine subscriptions and lately a very strange thing is happening.

There are 21 publications, one per row.

There is a column labelled "Label" that contains hyperlinks to scanned
images of mailing labels for each publication.

Seventeen links work just fine, but 4 fetch an incorrect image--the
same image for each of the four!

Link structure: file:///C:\IMAGES\OTHER\SUBS\filename.jpg

When I click on one of the four that don't fetch correctly, I get the
first image (,JPG, .BMP, etc.) in the "IMAGES" folder. It's as if, in
searching for the label file in OTHER/SUBS, it never gets past the
IMAGES folder and down into the sub folders. But all is well on the
other 17 links on the same sheet.

I opened a new sheet and made a few "test" links. All worked fine. The
problem seems to be only on the "Subscriptions" spreadsheet.

If I link to an image in a folder not in the IMAGES folder, all is
fine.

I have done a virus sweep, run Adaware and Spybot, and defragged the
HD. No joy.

Anybody have an idea of what's going on here?

Help.........
