Hyperlink file won't load on web

when I am viewing the website I designed and click on the hyperlink to load a
PDF file, nothing happens. I have followed the correct instructions for
loading a file from my c: drive. It is a PDF file that I want people to be
able to open if they need.

Please help. I"m very frustrated right now.

You need to put the file on the server. People have no way of connecting to
your computer. (And normally your computer isn't on 24/7, I wouldn't think).
I have found it advisable to create a folder on the server specifically for
downloads and place all such files in it. If you decide to have a folder
for downloads be sure you add the folder name to the path link.

This is a link to a file that is available to download from my website;

http://www.vanusa.org/downloads/vancouvermeetingmap.pdf

Note the downloads folder.

Because the file to be downloaded is available to visitors when they are
connected to the site at the time they choose to download, the link is
written as,

/downloads/vancouvermeetingmap.pdf

If the link is to be available on another website, then the www address
needs to be part of the link.
