Hyperlink in Outlook 2003 will not open

I cannot open hyperlinks in outlook 2003 e-mail. I have XP with IE7 and when
I click on a hyperlink in outlook it opens two (2) pages of IE7 (the first is
blank and the second is home page) and that is all it does. Interestingly
enough if I minimize the IE7 pages and click on the hyperlink then it will
open the hyperlink correctly. In other words the hyperlinks work only when
IE7 is already open.

Any suggestions
I would appreciate your help
