Hyperlink in word to a specific paragraph in a .pdf doc

Good Morning All. I have a hyperlink in my Word doc that points to a .pdf
document. No problem. But I'd like to have the document open to the
specific referenced text in the .pdf document.

I know I can set Acrobat to open to a specific point in a document. But
that functionality is good only if you make one reference to the .pdf.

Is there code that I can put in the hyperlink to direct it to a specific
point in the .pdf?

MS Word 2003
Windows XP Pro SP3

Thanks, Jim.

not sure if this would work the same in a .pdf, but try:
highlight your "specific reference" in the .pdf, COPY, then switch to Word,
place your I-bar(mouse) where you want the link and click it in place.
Go up to Edit in the toolbar (this does not work with right mouse clicking).
click Edit, Paste as Hyperlink.
Then, right mouse click on the hyperlink. here you can change the display
text to whatever you want.

let me know if this helps.

Hey Jana, Thanks for the shot, but it did not work. "Paste as Hyper" is
greyed out when I try that method. I tried doing the same with a Word doc
and it was possible. So I guess the sticking point is the fact that it's a
pdf file.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Jim.

You might try one more time. Sometimes it's all in the click of the mouse and
position of the mouse.
In Access, if I click in the cell/field where I want to paste, "paste as
hyperlink" is greyed out. If I arrow or tab to the field, it works.
You might try a couple of variations.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Jim, try this:

Destinations can be viewed in Acrobat Pro or Std (not Reader). In v.8.1.1,
use View > Navigation Panels > Destinations. You can also manually
add/rename/delete/set destinations there if desired.

To link to a destination in a PDF from a Word file, insert a hyperlink and
add or select the base PDF file name, then type the destination info at the
end, such as #mydestination.
