hyperlink insert performance

We maintain our documentation in lots of separate Word documents - 550
documents in one of our directories. If you want to insert a new hyperlink
using Ctrl/K the dialog insists on filling the box first with all the files,
which takes ages - 25 seconds or more. Anyone know how to quicly insert
hyperlinks?

Hi Peter,

Unfortunately if you use the Ctrl+K (Insert=>Hyperlink) dialog
you'll get that directory. Hyperlinks in Word documents are
inserted via a Word 'field' code. To see how the 'code' appears
in a Word document toggle the field code display on using Alt+F9
in your document that contains a hyperlink.

You can bypass the dialog by using Insert=>Field=>Hyperlink[Field Codes]
or use Ctrl+F9 to insert a blank field (curly braces set) then
between the braces type
HYPERLINK
followed by the link (typed or pasted) and then the Hyperlink field 'switches' [options]
