Hyperlink problem

Hi All,

I am not sure if this is the right group for this post but I can't see any
other suitable groups.

Somewhere I have read that here is a 'bug' in Word 2000 when it comes to
saving hyperlinks. Sometimes they seem to save as absolute URL's and other
times they save as relative hyperlinks. I would all hyperlinks to be
relative. The hyperlinks are created by VBA so there is no variation in the
way they are created. Just sometimes where you save they document they are
relative and other times they are absolute.

Is there something I should do to guarantee this.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Kind Regards
Robert

Hi Robert,

You probably can't 'guarantee' how the hyperlinks behave except on your own machine. If the user has enabled the update links on
save in Tools=>Options=>General=>Web Options, they're 'switchable'. Using the 'Hyperlink base' to set the BASE HTML proper in the
File=>Properties menu may also help as can the other methods in this article
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326518/en-us?FR=1

A bug in Word 2000 with hyperlinks is that it would switch forward slashes to backslashes. It wouldn't usually affect handling the
hyperlinks within a Word document, but would cause problems for Word documents saved as web pages.
