Hyperlink Problems

I have been working on my website for a while (www.hollyhomemade.com) and
I'm having some trouble with some hyperlinks. To get the hyperlinks for the
tabs to work, I have a box in front of each tab with no fill and no lines to
make it invisible, and that box has the hyperlink. The problem is that for
some reason, on some links, the hyperlink changes and doesn't work.

For example, the name of one of the pages is "shop.htm" after choosing that
as the hyperlink for some boxes, it changed to "%5bU%5dShop.htm" and when
you try to access it, it obviously can't find the page. On other pages, the
same exact box keeps the correct link. Any idea what is causing this and
what the solution is?

FireFox.

I reviewed all the "href" references in the source code and never did find
the "%5bU%5dShop.htm". I also can't "see" anything except the default menu
entry (the 1st tab) in Foxfire. That means maybe 10%-18% of your potential
customers will find the website un-usable.

In FP2002 you can set the page for a higher level of cross-browser
compatiblity by using the menu: tools->page options->compatbility tab Pick
both IE and Netscape. And Uncheck vml and vbscript at least. Maybe others.

this, but it still didn't seem to work after that. Then, when I tried it a
day later, it was working fine. I'm sure it's not news to anyone here, but
I didn't know that some changes take a little time before taking effect, I
thought they were immediate once published.

As far as the site not being compatible with other browsers, I know that
this is a huge problem, but I'm not nearly familiar enough with FrontPage to
know how to get around it. I would like to follow your instructions below
to fix it, but before I do anything, will it impact the way the site works
in other ways?

They should be immediate. Try clearing your browser cache (Temporary
Internet Files) or setting it to look for a newer version every time you
visit a site (Tools, Internet Options in IE)

You have some very powerful javascript running in there. And I am not sure
how you will get all the graphics to work without vml and using the IE
marqueue command. I do know there are javascripts available that will
emulate the effects of the marqueue command so that it "looks the same" (or
nearly so) across all browsers with javascript running. Since your menu
system appears to run on javascript this shouldn't be an issue unless the
user has their javascript disabled (and some do).

To be careful, I would first create a new page that is not the same name as
any other page. Say "testpage.htm".

I would then try setting the features below. Then I would try to
"re-create" your index.htm/default.htm page. You can then test it for
compatiblity via uploading to your website or you can use the preview trick
below....

Download a copy of foxfire (probably version 2.x.x would be a good choice).

If you upload your page for testing then...type your
url:www.hollyhomemade.com/testpage.htm into the address box and see what
happens. You can use the "preview in browsers" command to add Foxfire to
your previews and then you don't really have to upload the test page to your
site to try it out (unless your have some .asp etc that I missed).
