Hyperlink - specify a destination of hyperlink

Justine

Hello

I have a question in regards to hyperlinks. I currently link about 60 or so documents a day to my Microsoft Project Master plan. When you click on "Insert" then "Hyperlink" the "Insert Hyperlink" box appears. In the "Look in" box, it defaults to "My Documents". I want to change that default to a shared drive where my projects are stored

Here's what I tried so far

1) Help topic "Specify the destination of a hyperlink":
"File" --> "Properties" --> "Summary" ta
In the "hyperlink base" box I entered both the full path and then just the drive letter and folder and neither worked
For example: \\Phx-idn-fs01\cimdom\Investment Projects -OR- I:\Investment Project

2) "Tools" --> "Options" --> "Save" ta
In the "file locations" box you can click on "modify" button to modify the following
- Project
- User Template
- Workgroup Template
- ODBC Databas
There doesn't appear to be an option for hyperlinks here. For the heck of it I changed all of them to the full path and they are working fine. Now I just need the "hyperlink" destination to be set up
For example: File types: Project , Location: \\Phx-idn-fs01\cimdom\Investment Project

If you can help that would be great! It would save me alot of time and frustration. Thanks in advance

Is there anybody out there that can figure this one out? It really does take an awful lot of time to attach documents when I have to keep changing the path.

Thanks in advance

Hi Justine,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I can't find a way of changing this either :( Have you tried the Browsed
Pages or Recent Files or the Bookmark function?

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :))

Hi Justine.

Have you tried going ahead and adding a shortcut to the My Places bar? That
should give you the shortcut to the shared drive (at least) for hyperlinks.
In Microsoft Project 2003, search the help for "Add Shortcut to My Places
bar."
