hyperlink text

i have a long word 2003 document. many endnotes, plus index. How do I
hyperlink the notes to the index to the body of the text? Is it possible so
that when a reader scrolls down the text, links to notes and index will show
up? Or a reader can move from index to text-body? Thanks, anyone.....

Word does not support a hyperlinked index. Did you search the internet for a
custom tool to accomplish this?

ok, i see. can you recommend a custom tool to do this. i have the ms in pdf
version as well. thanks, henry

Sorry, I do not know of any such application, but there could still be one.

Alternatively, fake it by using a table of contents; these *are* hyperlinked
by default.

Ok, but i'm not sure i get it--code the index as table of contents? could you
say a bit more, please, since i am a real dummy at this and need some
"mercy"? thanks, h.

I was thinking of using TC fields and then creating a TOC that makes use of
these fields; see http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/TOCTips.htm. But note
that the entries won't be in alphabetical order. You may very well prefer to
have a true index (without hyperlinks).

thanks very much stefan. maybe i will use pdf version of the ms and code
selected index entries to their textual place, certainly not doing this for
everyone.
