Hyperlink to form does not open a new document

I have a document where I have a hyperlink to a MS Word Template (whic
is protected) but when you click the link, it opens the "template
rather than opening the template as a new document. When I open th
template from Explorer, it does open as a new document. Any ideas ho
to do this
