Hyperlink to jpg file doesn't work

When I have a hyperlink to a jpg file, nothing happens when I do the CTRL +
click. I expect it to open the file in Paint or Windows Picture Viewer. The
links work when I specify a bmp file. I am using MS Word 2002 sp3. Any
suggestions?
