hyperlink to mp3 files

I know there are various ways to put sounds / videos in a ppt presentation.
I have often done Run Program from action setting but recently have switched
to hyperlinking. This works well with wav files as the image on screen does
not change. The audio runs, your picture looks fine and all is well.

However, when I link to an mp3 file, whatever program is used to run that
file, like Win Media Player, jumps up and captures the screen while the file
is running. Is there any way to avoid that?

Instead of hyperlinking the sounds or movies, which will open the media
player or other default player, do this instead:
Click Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound from File.
Then select the mp3. Click Insert.
When prompt, choose a suitable option.

Also check this out if you want your sound to run across multiple slides:

Thank you that works as you say, but I have to have the ugly speaker icon
showing on my slide. Is there anyway to insert sounds and choose the object
like you can with hyperlinking? ALso, I have tried to cover the speaker with
another image by putting it in the background, but then you cannot click and
access it. Any ideas?
