I have read probably 100 different postings on this topic, but am still
having problems. I'm putting a hyperlink on an intranet page to open a
Word Template. I will go step by step, and would love it if someone
could tell me what I'm doing wrong. Here's what I'm doing:
1) On my template (c:\template.dot), I right click on it, and click
create Shortcut.
2) If I double click the shortcut, it will open the template as a .DOC
(which is what I want).
3) On my web page (using Word as the editor), I create a hyperlink,
and point the path of the hyperlink to my SHORTCUT...NOT MY .DOT FILE!
I also add the .lnk extension on the end of the shorcut. It looks like
\\servername\share\shortcut to template.dot.lnk
When I click the hyperlink the .dot file opens and not a .doc file.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Troy
