Hyperlink to Word Template

I added this comment to another post - but was not getting any responses. I
am having problems with the directions in the link that Brian provided
below...

I have tried this from hyperlinks in excel to a Word template and cannot
seem to get it to work. Perhaps I don't quite understand the instructions for
entering in the hyperlink to the shortcut manually? I have entered
c:\templates\shortcut to template.dot.lnk and it still opens it up as a .dot
file.

it looks like you are hyperlinking
to a shortcut instead of the physical
dot file.

your hyperlink needs to target
the actual file that ends with .dot

Hi Wendy,

When you create the Windows shortcut that in turn links to the .dot file the full name of the Windows shortcut includes .LNK as part
of its name. See if including the fully qualified name in your hyperlink in quotes makes a difference and see if it works if you're
using the .LNK file linked to a web page, which was the scenario the article was originally written to. It's possible that OLE
links between Excel and Word would behave differently.
