I am using windows 7, IE 8 and Office 2007

I have desperately tried to rid myself of the pop up warning messages
when linking an external file in PPT 2007 but to no avail.

Yes, i have used Chirag Dalal's small exe files that are supposed to
do the job but no, the message still pops up

I have used the MS instructions and followed them down to the letter
from this link -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925757

What more can i do??

Please help

My macro security levelsa re set to the lowet possible

I don't have an answer, but a bit more information might help ...

Have you installed any of the Office 2007 service packs?  If so, which?

What exactly do the hyperlinks point to?  What type of files?  How did
you add them in PPT?

I have installed service pack 2 for office 2007.

The hyperlink point to a presentation file created by softmaker office
suite, sent to me by a friend and which i need to incorporate into my
own ppt presentation. (the directX animations and slide transitions
that he has used are fantastic and if he has saved to ppt an given it
tom me all that super stuff would be lost)

I have inserted a green circle shape on the ppt slide and right
clicked to select hyperlink ater which i browsed to the softaker prez
file on the desktop. The file is getting linked but the annoying
warning comes up during the presentation.

i have tried run after inserting an action button but there is a
warning that pops up there too!

Try putting your presentation and the linked file in the same folder in a
trusted location / trusted folder. Not positive this will work, but I think
it might.

I must also add that linked ppt, doc, xls, txt, image files get linked
properly i.e. no warning pops up when these files are hyperlinked
(after modifying the registry for the disabling of warning messages).

The support page on Microsoft also recommended the following

"1. Double-click My Computer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. On the File Types tab, select the appropriate file extension (for
example, WMV) in the Registered File Types box, then click the
Advanced button.
4. Click to clear the Confirm open after download check box, then
click the OK button.
5. Click the Close button on the Folder Options dialog box"

But these settings for file typs are not availabl in Windows 7

Will try what is suggested above (thanks Echo!) and report back

No adding to a folder to trusted locations and then placing both the
ppt and the liked softmaker presentation document (prd file) in the
same folder and then hyperlinkng to the file doesnot work either.
BTW are the warnings supposed to be removed only for certain file
types or all kinds of hyperlinked files??

Well, poop. It was worth a try. There may be a limitation to the types of
files that removes the warning for, yes. I wasn't aware of it, but I don't
ever link to stuff like that -- I'm generally happy to get PDFs and other
PPT files to not show the warning!

Actually, now that I think about it, that may just be for other PPT files.
Sorry if I led you on a wild goose chase.
