Hyperlink will not save

Word XP... When I add a hyperlink in a document then I save the document the
hyperlink appears to corrupt!?

In the document I add the hyperlink. I edit it with the correct address. I
test the link by right clicking and opening it. It works. I save the
document and the address becomes corrupted (with "\..\..\..\..\, etc. in
front of the link) and the link no longer works properly.

Any ideas?

This is *absolutely* maddening. I have been struggling with this recently in
some Web pages I created. The advice I was given (which does seem to help
just a little in .doc files but not in .htm files) is to go to Tools |
Options | General, click on Web Options, select the Files tab, and clear the
check box for "Update links on save."

I looked at that and didn't considered it because mine and 4 other
workstations work fine! Why some and not others?

Oh well, its a mystery I don't need to waste time on. Your advise worked
fine. Thanks again.
