Hi, Susan,

In the Insert Hyperlink dialog, the top item, "Text to display", is what
will appear in the document. It doesn't have to be the same as the URL
(address) in the "file or Web page name" box -- you can shorten it or change
it completely, without affecting where it will take you. It could even say
"Click here".

Note that this is what you usually see in Web pages: instead of the URL, you
see not only "Click here" but, say, "this page" or "a photo of me and my
dog" or whatever.
