Hyperlink.

I appologize if this has been asked before but a search did not answer my
question.

I am using M/S Word 2004 Mac. I am trying to compile a list of subjects on a
blank document and enter a hyperlink to the appropiate web site for each
subject. Having typed in my subject I select Insert>Hyperlink. Unfortunately
I am unable to paste in the URL in to the "Link to box" as Paste is greyed
out as is everything else.

If I type in the URL addresss and click OK the address is transferred to my
document and highlighted in blue. If I click on this link to open it I get
"Can not download info you requested"

Can some knowledgeable person please advise where I am going wrong.

The toolbars & Menus are a part of the application interface which isn't
available in that type of dialog. If you use the Command+V keystroke to
paste you should be OK.

As for the message, there must be something about the URL that isn't right,
but without knowing what the URL is it's impossible to guess what the
problem may be. If you're copying from within a web page (rather than from
he browser's address bar) it cold be the browser's fault. If you're typing
the URL make sure it is 100% accurate. If you're certain it's right try
pasting it directly to your browser's address bar & see if it works there.

Thank you Bob for your prompt input. I am pleased to confirm by using the
Command+V keystroke I was able to paste the address with out any problem.

If this is a problem why can't M/S inform its users or fix it?

Michael.

It isn't a "problem" (it's by design), it isn't "new", nor is it determined
by MS - The Apple OS X API dictates dialog behavior. The Windows OS is the
same way.
