hyperlinking does not work - says see system administrator ?

When I try to put a normal hyperlink in a Word document - a message comes up
which says "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions on this
computer - see system administrator". Can anyone help on this. My computer
and I am the system administrator I suppose, but do not know what has
happened or how to correct it -
