hyperlinks disappear

Developed a large ppt. file with many hyperlinks(+ 200).
The hyperlinks are used for navigation within the
presentation itself. There are no links to outside files
or URLs.

Problem: Hyperlinks disappear when file is saved or file
is closed. The disappearance seems to be random as we
have not been able to see a pattern (sometimes the
hyperlinks will not corrupt upon closing and opening a
file). We have considered size of the ppt. file as a
potential influencer.

Has anyone seen this before?
