Hyperlinks fail when published to the web

I have created a new 20 page website using MP 2003. My hyperlinks work
correctly within publisher when I navigate through them while designing the
site.

When I publish to the web the hyperlinks on one page no longer link
correctly. They will link to the same pages as nother page in the site.

When I created this page I used the insert duplicate page function and then
changed where the hyperlinks are linked to. Somehow when I publish to the web
the links are changed back to the original pages that I copied.

While in publisher the links are changed to where I want them to go and
navigate correctly.

I have had to edit the html code to correct the failed links.

This defeats the purpose of using publisher easily.

Not sure, but it sounds like you didn't use the navbar wizard correctly to
produce your links, and you certainly shouldn't be editing the HTML code, as
that won't change anything in your Publisher file. Do the links work when
you preview the site? If so, and they only fail when you actually upload
your site, then did you delete your old files on your web host?

If I guessed right about you misusing the navbar wizard correctly, or you
tried to edit the navbar links manually, then you will probably need to
recreate your navbars. To do that, and save some time, go to Help, and type
in the word "navigation" and you will get good instructions on how to do
that.

The links that are failing are not part of the navigation bars. These links
are in the body of my page.

I can navigate through all of the links holding control down and selecting
the links while in the publisher file.

I then preview my website and the links do not work they revert back to the
links from the page that I inserted duplicate page.

The issue is located in the conversion from publisher to the html files. The
links work fine in publisher and fail in the html version.

Check how you are writing the links. Unless you have changed the default
setting, when you publish to the web, Publisher generates an index.htm file
plus a index_files folder containing your other pages and graphics. It may
be that you are writing a relative link and not including the index_files as
part of the link? Perhaps delete the problem link altogether, and insert a
new link to the particular page. Perhaps change one of the problem links to
an absolute link and see if that helps.
http://yoursite.com/index_files/yourpage.htm You can also test your work by
just doing a web preview.

And if you can't figure it out, please post back the specific steps you take
to insert the hyperlink.

I deleted my link and recreated it following these steps:

1.) I right click on my photograph and select hyperlink
2.) Select Place in this document.
3.) I select the page I want to link to.
4.) I click ok.
5.) Link works in publisher.
6.) Preview website link does not work still links to another page that I
didn't select.

Where do I test the absolute link in publisher? Or how do I tell publisher
that it is an absolute link? How do I check my default link settings?

Tony,

Sure sounds like you are doing it correctly. I will give it some more
thought, but do you perchance have a border on the picture? Try deleting the
picture, reinsert it, and reinsert the link??? Does this happen when you
insert a new link to another page, when you insert the hyperlink into some
text?
