Hyperlinks get lost when opening PPT files on different Oss

Hi,

I made a presentation with hyperlinks to navigate between chapters and
charts. I did this on a mac using Powerpoint 2004.

When I sent the presentation to our customer using Powerpoint XP and to my
home pc using Powerpoint 2003 the hyperlinks get lost!

Is there a workaround for this problem or am I bound to the system the file
was done by?

More specifically, are the chapters/charts external files or other slides
within the same presentation?

The hyperlinks are only linking charts inside this presentation. They don't
link any external files. I use them to navigate through my charts, e.g. to
jump between chapters.

I'd be interested in seeing the file in that case. It *should* work and I'm
curious to understand why it wouldn't.

If you can send a copy to steve at-sign pptools dot com I'd be happy to have a
look at it.

Quote our message exchange here in the body of the email if you would ... it'll
remind me what to look for.

Thanks!

did this issue get resolved? i am having the exact same issue. i found something online about creating a macro and then making the links on the text themselves (instead of the text shape) and it didn't work

Hi Markus,

Thanks for sending the files. I've opened the first one on both Windows PPT
2003 and Mac PPT 2004 and found that it behaves the same on both, but the links
(for example on the tabs at the top) don't work as you might expect them to.

This is because you have the linked shapes covered up by text shapes.
If you remove the text shapes and add the same text back into the linked
shapes, I think the results will be what you want on both PC/Mac.

In fact, in the later file you sent (navitest.ppt), the one that works as
expected ... that's exactly what you've done.

Does this answer your question or have I missed something?
