Hyperlinks go to wrong page of document

Could someone help me. I have assigned bookmarks to
certain lines. Some of the hyperlinks go where they are
supposed to, however, the others keep going to the first
page of the document when clicked on? What do I need to
do?

Hi Randall

I can think of two possible reasons -- there may be more, and I'm sure
someone will chime in if I missed something. :)

- If the hyperlink field doesn't contain an \l switch to specify the
location, then by default Word goes to the start of the document.

- If the hyperlink field's \l switch gives a bookmark name that doesn't
exist (maybe it once did, but got deleted or changed), then Word goes to the
start of the document without complaining about it.

Probably the easiest way to fix it is to delete the hyperlinks that don't
work properly, and reinsert them, using the Bookmark button in the Insert >
Hyperlink dialog to choose the right bookmark name. The alternative is to
examine the hyperlink's field code and verify/rebuild the bookmark name in
the destination document.
