Hyperlinks in email merges

I'm trying to get a hyperlink to a website to work after completing an email
merge. The data source is in an Excel spreadsheet. I'm using the mail merge
wizard to complete the email merge as an HTML message. After completing the
merge, I can not click the link when I view the message in Outlook 2003.
However, I can click the link when I use Outlook 2007 and or my BlackBerry.
Am I doing something wrong? Is this the expected behavior in Outlook 2003? I
understand some recepients may strip HTML messages.
