Hi,
Wondering if anyone knows a solution to this problem.
In my office we tend to use hyperlinks in emails to aid navigation through
our local network. Example hyperlink could be file://x:\folder\folder\new
folder\sheet.xls Normally when you click on this link excel, word, adobe
reader or whatever the relevant application the file is related to, would run
and display the linked file. On 2 of our pcs this does not happen. Using the
example link above, rather than excel opening up and displaying sheet,
windows explorer opens a new windows displaying the contents of
x:\folder\folder\new folder\ This happens with most filetypes not just excel.
Most people have the same software suite, window xp pro sp2, outlook 2003,
word 2002 sp3, excel 2002 etc, 1 or 2 are all 2003. The email message is sent
in either rich text format or html. The link itself appears to work fine, so
I am thinking that it's got something to do with the settings on the 2 non
working pcs. Has anyone else come across this problem?
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
