I have the same problem. The response to clicking on any url hyperlink in
outlook (2007, running on Vista Ultimate on a Dell Core 2 Duo desktop in my
case) is a Warning dialog (yellow triangle and exclamation mark) with the
text:

"General failure. The URL was:

"http://www.anysiteyoulike.com". The system cannot find the file specified."

I am running Firefox as my default browser. Despite the irritating dialog,
Firefox opens and locates the desired URL. The dialog only appears when there
is no existing instance of Firefox already running and a new window must be
opened. If Firefox is already open then the URL displays in a new tab without
the dialog appearing.

Check some of this information. I know it's for other problems, but it
might help with yours also. http://www.slipstick.com/problems/firefox.htm
