Hello everyone, I am trying to control + click on hyperlinks within a
Word 2003 document, but have suddenly started getting the following
message:
"This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on
this computer."
Does anybody here have any idea how I can remove this restriction
from my computer? Thanks.
According to the last few posts in
http://www.lockergnome.com/windows/2005/03/23/this-operation-has-been-canceled-due-to-restrictions/
the fix is to restore the file association for HTML by downloading the
"HTM/HTML Associations" file from
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm,
unzipping it, and double-clicking the resulting .reg file.
I haven't tried this, since I don't have the problem. But I have looked at
the registry data in the file, and they look correct except for one item. In
two places (for editing and printing HTML files), it refers to the path
"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office10\\msohtmed.exe\"
The "Office10" part is for Office XP, which was current when the file was
created. If you ever click the Edit or Print items in Windows Explorer's
right-click menu for HTML files (and most people don't), you'll get a "file
not found" error. For Office 2003 you need to change the path to "Office11".
You can do this by editing the .reg file in Notepad.
