Hyperlinks, relative and absolute, multible drives.

Hi, This is sort of a follow-on question to one that I posted yesterday.

We have two network drives. I create a pres on one drive with hyperlinks to
other presentations, some on the same drive, some on the other.

When I create the hypers to other files ON THE SAME DRIVE, using either
Insert>Hyper or Actions Settings on a button, both work. But when I click
the save button, the paths to the external files (with both methods) revert
to relative and no longer work. For example:
\\<drive_id>\245....
turns into
.../../245
and no longer works. I get the message "The address of this site is not
valid. Check the address and try again". I have done nothing but click the
save button. This happens for each method of inserting a hyper.

The hypers created for items on the OTHER drive have retained their absolute
paths (as in example 1 above) and still work fine.

It takes quite a while each week to reset all of the hypers for files on the
same drive. Can anyone help??

Jim, PowerPoint is not too good at this sort of stuff -- the best thing to
do is to copy those files in the same folder as the presentation to the
files you want to link, and then hyperlink to them.

Thanks for the reply Geetesh, It seems that PP is not good at all for hypers
on the same drive. PP 2000 and 2007 work fine. Only 03 tries to convert
absolute paths on the same drive to relative and hoses them all up.

Any fix in the works that you know of?

Jim, PowerPoint is not too good at this sort of stuff -- the best thing to
do is to copy those files in the same folder as the presentation to the
files you want to link, and then hyperlink to them.

I don't think 2000 and 2007 are good for this as well. Best to copy these to
a folder, or you can use FixLinks Pro from:
