hyperlinks to Excel/Word

Hyperlinks on forms pointing to Excel or Word docs with
macros won't open if macro security set to medium in
Excel/Word - dialogue asking for macros to be enabled
seems to be stuck in a loop. This used to work (I
think) - does anyone know what's changed?
