hyperlinks to secure pages generating a 404

I am building an interactive "hypercard-like" presentation in .ppt for Mac 2011. The client would like links from the .ppt to deep pages on the company's secure intranet site. The linked buttons will go to the login screen on the company site, but after logging in I get a "The requested URL /securepost/EmployeeLoginAction was not found on this server" message. The same URL pasted into the browser window (Chrome) accesses the login, and after logging in it goes to the linked page. Apparently .ppt is unable "deep link" past a sign-on page. How can this be fixed?
