Hyperlinks to web sites not working

B

Bob

I find that hyperlinks in Office applications are no
longer able to trigger Internet Explorer. However, the
hyperlink will connect to a site if IE is activated first.

This is unique to Office applications. Hyperlinks in non
office documents will start up Internet Explorer.

Everything worked fine until I upgraded to a newer
version of Norton Internet Security. Deactivating NIS
does not make a difference.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Are all OfficeXP Service packs installed?
Is IE registered as the default browser?
If you click START | RUN and type www.microsoft.com with no browsers open,
does our site come up?

Yes, all except for Olk1006.exe, an Outlook update. I
don't use Outlook.
Is IE registered as the default browser?
I think so, but don't know where to verify this. However
when this problem first showed up, I checked the box to
have IE check to see if it was the default browser. (IE6
is the only browser installed on this computer.)
If you click START | RUN and type www.microsoft.com with no browsers open,

Yes, it does.
Also, any program with a drop down menu item to go to
their web site does work properly.
Also, clicking on a hyperlink in non Microsoft programs
such as a text editor or the password program I use will
activate IE, then dial up.

I've also done a repair reinstall of Office.

Thanks,
Bob
