Hyperlinks within a merge doc

Hi

How do I get the hyperlinks in the merge template to move
over to the merged document? I have several hyperlinks
that point to bookmarks and/or headings within the
document that don't work in my new merged doc.

FYI - Hyperlinks to Internet addresses work fine.

Unfortunately, this is non-trivial because Word removes all bookmarks from
the output document when it merges. In other words, all the targets of your
Hyperlink fields are removed.

I don't see any solution other than
a. don't use merge to do what you are doing - roll your own "Merge" using
VBA and deal if necessary with the logical problem where you have multiple
copies of the input in the putput (i.e. you need different bookmark names in
each copy)
b. mark up your mail merge main document in some way that enables you to
regenerate the necessary bookmarks programatically, and again fix the
hyperlinks if there are multiple copies. I'm not sure how I would approach
that but I suppose I could think of something if pressed.
