Hyperlinks within PowerPoint doc not being remembered

I have an odd situation where PowerPoint isn't remembering the
hyperlinks I set up.

I setup a hyperlink from one slide to jump to another slide in the
presentation. When I save the file. Close it out. Then re-open to
display the presentation...the hyperlink no longer remembers which
slide to jump to.
When I click the hyperlink, it doesn't jump.
In the Hyperlink pane of the Formatting Pallette, it says:

On Mouse Click: Slide.....
<empty string> (this is where is did say which slide to jump to)

Any help as to why this isn't keeping the slide to jump to???

Thanks!

Do you have a lot of hyperlinks in this PowerPoint? PowerPoint has a
limit on its space to store hyperlinks. There is no exact number of
hyperlinks allowed, but you might be reaching the limit. For most
presentations, users don't come close to this limit, but you might be
hitting up against that.

Does the title of the slide you are linking to have any punctuation in
it? Commas are a known problem in slide titles. If there is a comma in
one of your slide titles, try removing it and see if it works.

There was a thread here a few weeks ago called "Hyperlinks just 'stopped'
working" that you may wish to find in the archives. The problem seems to
afflict some users of PowerPoint 2004 after updating office to 11.2.5 --
myself included. The problem persists.

For me it affects ALL hyperlinks -- links to other slides, links to other
documents, and links to web pages.

Several of the MVPs looked into the problem and at last report, Nancy Cho
said that she had been able to reproduce the problem and was reporting it to
Microsoft.

Hi Christopher,

It affects me, too. There was a thread in the newsgroups about this and
someone from Microsoft responded, so they are aware of the problem.

It is a known problem. I had to remove Office and reinstall from the
discs. Do NOT apply 11.2.5 or 11.2.6; you can apply 11.2.4 from
Microsoft's web site and keep your links.

I downgraded and the links worked. I upgraded (just to test) and the
links don't work. WIll be downgrading until Microsoft gets this fixed.
