Hyperlinks

Can I insert a hyperlink to selected text within a shape rather than to the
shape itself? If so, how?

I think the smallest unit that can be linked to is another page.

morrisli - I believe Paul and I may have different understandings of what
you're trying to do. If it's what I'm thinking... I may know a work-around
to do what I think you mean. Can you explain in more detail what it is you
want to do?

Roger,

Thanks for your response. I'm using Visio for several process flow charts
with text in boxes for each stage of the process. Within that text, it
refers to other documents, eg Requisition Form, and I want to link the text
"Requisition Form" to the actual form on our website. It's no good putting
the link on the shape, as the text may refer to several different documents.
I hope that's clear - but is it possible?
Any hints gratefully accepted!

PS There used to be a software package that allowed you to do stuff like
this, but it was many moons ago and it no longer exists.

You can have more than one hyperlink active on a shape, i.e. you can
link a shape to multiple documents.

In addition to what Paul just pointed out, you could use another method if
you wanted the specific text for each individual document to only have one
link (specific to its own file). On top of the process stage shape, you
could place individual seperate text boxes for each document text and then
assign individual links to each text box.

Lastly, just to clean things up a bit, you could remove the selection
borders and connector handles by de-selecting all three options in Format >
Behavior... > Selection Highlighting. This makes for a better appearance
when the user selects the link.
