Hyperlinks

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel When making a hyperlink to another sheet in the same workbook, space between words in the "link to" field ("Koble til" in Norwegian, ie the top box when hitting Cmd-K) change from space to %20 when editing the link or when saving and opening the file again. Is this a known issue in Excel 2008, or does anyone know how to fix it?

It's an "issue" because spaces are illegal characters in hyperlink paths, so
there is nothing to be fixed. The code is inserted as a placeholder. To
avoid the codes, don't use spaces in your file/folder names... Just because
the OS allows it doesn't mean it's a good idea :)

Instead, you can use the underscore character rather than a space
(my_file.xlsx) ‹ but that's "old school" technique. The more current naming
convention is to run the characters together capitalizing the first
character of each word (MyFile.xlsx).

Additionally, use the Display: field to enter what you want to have
displayed in the cell & use the Screen Tip button to enter what you want to
have display in the tip box when hovering on the link cell.

If you want spaces that appears a space on a link but are not really,
use the code &20 "The%20time%20my%20Life" will show up as: The time of
my life. that is the percent sign followed by a 20 (two, zero). Or you
can use the shortcut that windows people do. use underscores for spaces.
it don't look near as good but its faster.

I'll show here so you can see in action:
