Hyperlinks

Bob Madigan

For some reason my version of Windows 2002 has all of a
sudden decided to open all hyperlinks so they look
like: "{HYPERLINK " mailto:[email protected]"}
instead of just Bob Madigan with the hyperlink itself
invisible. I have worked on this for days and am stumped.
I am sure the solution is easy... btw, this happens with
every docutment whether I created it or not.

I tried to recreate your issue but couldn't do it.

Since this is happening even with new documents, renaming normal.dot on your system might do the trick.

Follow these steps to temporarily rename the Normal.dot template to determine if it is the cause of the problem:

1. Close all programs.
2. Click Start, and then click Search.
3. Click "All files and folders".
4. In the "All or part of the file name" box, type "Normal.dot"
(without the quotation marks).
5. In the Look In box, click My Computer.
6. Click Search Now.
7. For each instance of Normal.dot, right-click the file, click Rename,
and then type "OldNormal.dot" (without the quotation marks).
8. Close Search Results, and then start Word.

This is a pretty drastic response to a problem that can be solved by
pressing Alt+F9! <g>

Suzanne, You are brilliant. Thank you!! An easy fix and
it works... I'll bet that I triggered the problem with a
sleepy touch typing move... thanks again...
