Hyphen or Dash in Email search string

lottaviano

Using Outlook 2007. At my work we assign project numbers like 12-005 (where 12 is the calendar year, and 005 is a sequential number). In Outlook, I want to find all the emails having to do with project 12-005, but when I enter 12-005 in the search box, I get everything with either "12" or "005". How do I tell Outlook I want only the entire string?

I am *not* using Instant Search or Advanced Find. I am just using the general search box. Would my results be better if I used one of the other techniques?

Thanks for any help,
Liana

Hi, Liana.

Have you tried enclosing the search term in quotes: "12-005"? That doesn't
work everywhere and I don't know if it will work in Outlook, but it does
work in many places.
