hyphenation / line breaks --basic q.

This should be easy to remedy, but I can't find the answer in the
"help" guide.

My standard template for Word is now set up to never break words --
i.e., all lines end at the end of a complete word. I'd like to have
Word break words internally, to create a smoother right margin. How do
I do that?

Command-hyphen will produce an "optional" hyphen, i.e. one that will only
appear if the word it's in would otherwise be pulled to the next line.

Are you using Justified Alignment in your styles? That, alone, may give you
the desired result. You might also take a look at the Tools>Hyphenation
settings, and in addition to Clive's reference to an Optional Hyphen you may
also find other Special Characters useful - Insert>Symbol>Special
Characters.
