Hi,

Not even sure which keystrokes I hit, but I deleted the "tool" menu. All
the features that might help me restore this, ironically seem to be under the
tool menu. I restored microsoft office on the computer, but it is still
missing.

thanks,

What you need to restore it is the Customize dialog. Luckily, this is
accessible in numerous other ways:

1. View | Toolbars | Customize...

2. Right-click on any toolbar and choose Customize...

3. Click the Toolbar Options arrow at the end of any toolbar, choose Add or
Remove Buttons, then Customize...

4. (My favorite) Double-click on the empty area of any toolbar.

In the Customize... dialog, select Built-in Menus under Categories and Tools
under Commands. Drag it to the Menu Bar and drop it.

See http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/RestoreMenuCmd.htm and

Note that you can open the Customize dialog, even when the Tools menu is
missing, by clicking View > Toolbars > Customize or by right-clicking a blank
area next to the toolbars and choosing Customize.
