I added a new CDROM hard drive and it does not show under my comp.

I needed to replace my CDRW hard drive and after I installed it, when I put a
CD ROM into it does not start working right away I have to go to My Computer
and double click on it. Also when there is no CD ROM in the reader it does
not even show up under My Computer.
