I am new to this group, just want to share some experience

1. Recently, I found that the actual work will not end up in the
assignmentbyday view if the projects are published from PWA. The
actually hours only show up in assignment view which is not time
phased. This is confirmed by Microsoft Support Team. It would be nice
if Microsoft can tell us ealier.

2. If you have a resource loaded task and the task start day is
earlier than the project start date, the actual work will not show up
in assignmentbyday view either. This has not been confirmed by
Microsoft. Please let me know if you have similar experience.

The reason that I watch this assignmentbyday view so closely is that
we do not use the time-sheet function, we only use my task to mimic
timesheet. I am not sure if I made the right choice but it seems to me
that there are lots of problems on the out of box time sheet function
too.

I am not sure if there is a thread here to cover this, but let me ask
this question any way:
What is the best way to set up an administrative project to track
vacations, training, .... (because we do not use time sheet function)

Thanks a lot in advance.

Yes, there are some deficiencies in the server-side publishing engine, so
you should try to use the client for your publishing. I think that the
second problem you mention will be fixed in the April Cumulative update, bug
I can't be certain until it arrives. Meanwhile, you should have your PMs
change the Project Start date before people start posting updates if the
project is going to start before the planned date.
